The bells rang out on Sunday 11 December as people made their way to the carol service in the parish church of St Thomas. The wet weather had not deterred the large congregation. Revd. The Kentisbury and Trentishoe village hall committee will be holding their annual clay pigeon shoot on Saturday 6 August at 2pm in the parish field behind the village hall. There will be a DTL and 30 sporting competitions. Prizes will include Cash High Gun, Novice Trophies, Ladies Prizes, and Junior Medals. Under 16 years old must be supervised. Many visitors came to enjoy a leisurely stroll in the beautiful surroundings, and a cream tea in the court yard,or on the terrace. Jim Pile, of Higher Week Farm, returned from the Royal Cornwall Show on Saturday 11 June with eight rosettes won by his Border Leicester sheep. His Border Leicester sheep won Female Champion, four firsts, and two seconds. Jim bred the winning sheep on his farm in Kentisbury. He will be making the journey with them to the Royal Cornwall Show in July and we [...] St Thomas parish church is raising money to repair the roof, so when Stephen Clifford suggested a competition “Guess the Finishing Time” when he ran the London Marathon many people had a go at £1 a time. £177.35 was raised. The prize of £25 voucher for Waytown Farm Shop was won by Miss Su Harris. Steven Clifford, who lives in Kentisbury, finished his 8th London Marathon in 4 hours 2 minutes on Sunday 17 April.
